SLAM Charter students meet Grammy-winning artist PaoPao for International Women’s Day – CBS Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Latin Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican artist PaoPao met with students at SLAM Charter School in honor of International Women’s Day.

PaoPao, along with an all-female panel of RichMusic executives, led a Q&A with students on Tuesday morning to discuss the music industry and careers within the industry that some may not be familiar with. not.

“I wish I had someone to come in, from an artist’s perspective, and be like, ‘It’s actually possible to do this!'” PaoPao said.

Speaking to SLAM students, PaoPao, who is under contract with RichMusic, highlighted International Women’s Day as well as “WomenUp,” an initiative launched by RichMusic to encourage women to follow their dreams.

The all-female panel included people who started their careers at RichMusic as interns and are now in leadership positions.

“Being able to educate young students about the wide range of everything they could do in the industry is really cool because I didn’t have that,” said Sofia Jimenez, who went from intern to project manager for artist relations and business development. .

PaoPao’s career at RichMusic is also a bit of women’s history. The singer-songwriter started working for the label as a label manager before being signed as an artist.

“I started as the label boss, which is crazy,” PaoPao joked. “It’s a career and a journey, I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who has [gone this route]“, added the singer.

The Q&A at SLAM came nearly a week after RichMusic released its all-female debut EP “hembrismo,” directed and produced by its first female signer, PaoPao, and featuring La Gabi, ARIA VEGA, Cami Da Baby and Villano Antillano.
