Lighthouse ArtCenter presents works by young photographers
Photographs of 150 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County will be on display at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta beginning September 6. The “2022 ImageMakers” exhibition offers black and white, color, digital and alternative processing images. by club members aged 6 to 18. Stop by for an opening reception on September 9, which is free for members and a suggested donation of $5 for non-members. The exhibition is visible until October 1st.
ImageMakers is a national photography competition that produces local, regional and national Club Member winners who compete in the Culture and Tradition, Portraits, Nature and Environment, Fashion and Style, and Editing and Filter categories. The photographs are then exhibited in local and regional exhibitions around the world.
“As an organization, we are extremely proud of the art our members produce and the local and national recognition they receive. These are talented young artists emerging from Palm Beach County, and their perspectives and voices matter,” said Casandra Tanenbaum, Cultural Arts Program Manager. “Our members deeply value the opportunity photography affords them to share insight into their community and their individual, unique aesthetic.”
Six members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County were named winners of the Southeast Region Image Makers competition, including: Riley S. and Brielle M. of the Delray Beach Boys & Girls Club; Tvare S. and Paradise R. of the Marjorie S. Fisher Boys & Girls Club; and Z’myra B. and Ayanna G. of the Smith & Moore Family Teen Center. They will represent the entire Southeast region in the national competition.
Last year, Smith & Moore Family Teen Center member Ayanna G. won the ImageMakers Best in Show award, the nation’s highest honor. Ayanna is once again a contender for a national award this year with her photo ‘The Seed of Intention’.
