Community guest: workshop on Edmonds Hwy 99
November 3, 2021
The Town of Edmonds is in the process of designing entrance signs at the northern and southern city limits on Highway 99 (as part of Highway 99 and footbridge revitalization project / Stage 2). This part of the project is currently in the design phase. The community is invited to the second online workshop to discuss the new signage on Wednesday, November 17 at 6 p.m.
The first community workshop was held on August 4, 2021 to provide background information on the two walkway panels project. Following this meeting and an online survey, the community expressed their preferences regarding the general layout of these signs.
Using these early comments, several general gateway design options have been developed. This second community workshop is scheduled for November 17th from 6pm to 7pm where these design options will be presented.

After the meeting, an online survey will be available, allowing the community to select their preferred design option. This survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and the deadline to complete the survey will be November 31, 2021. This entry will then allow the design team to begin the design phase on preferred options.

Walkway panels will be built and installed with the upcoming Highway 99 revitalization and walkway project (Stage 2). In addition to the walkway signs, the project will convert the existing central two-way left turn lane from 244th Street SW to 212th Street SW into a raised median with left turn pockets in the middle of the block along some sections. This will also include a landscaped median and traffic curb along other sections to improve safety along the corridor.
The current schedule is to complete the design phase of this project in early 2022 and the construction phase at the end of 2022. To learn more about the project, visit the following link: https://www.edmondscorridor99.org/.
