Chicago artist Jordan Scott creates masterpieces with used stamps

CHICAGO – Jordan Scott has had a love affair with stamps for as long as he can remember, but it wasn’t until he attended a real estate sale and ended up with a massive collection that he realized their true potential.

He slowly began to incorporate stamps into his work until eventually they completely took over all of his pieces.

Scott uses 150 to over 8,000 stamps and can take anywhere from a day to eight weeks to create depending on the size and complexity of the piece.

However, he never bought any new stamps.

“It is really important to me that the stamps that are in my work have been used, are reused and, more importantly, have this hidden history of sending. To have a sender and a recipient, so that each piece has that other layer to that, ”he said.

Almost 20 years later, he wowed others with his imagination and his art.

“I love and never miss seeing someone come closer and closer to peace realizing that it is actually made out of postage stamps and looking at their moment Aha,” Scott said.

Scott hopes to inspire others to work with recycled materials and think outside the box.
