Cebuano Street Photographer Shares Amazing Hand-Made Halloween Diorama

CEBU, Philippines – Inspired by images during photowalks, Cebuano street photographer Butch Toong created a handmade Pinoy urban diorama, dubbed “Sam-Ang”, a Cebuano word for cemetery.

According to Toong, his Halloween diomara is made from “stripes using discarded materials.”

“This piece is just one of those places that, as a street photographer, I usually see on our photowalks. This was done because of the pandemic last year, in which people have few places to go, ”Toong told CDN Digital.

Toong finished his play just in time for Halloween.

“It’s timely since I did this with another diorama a month before the Day of the Dead,” he said.

“As to its reality, it really depends on the eye of the beholder. As for me, it’s my way of interpreting my work, ”he added.

A diorama is a scenic representation in which sculpted figures and realistic details are usually displayed in miniature so as to blend indistinguishably with a realistic painted background.
