Spider-Gwen returned in the first trailer for the Spider-Verse following Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse (Part 1). The trailer picked up where the first movie left off, with Gwen Stacy teleporting to Miles Morales’ bedroom. She offered Miles an invitation to join him on an adventure, which he couldn’t pass up. Pictures showed Through the Spider-Verse will introduce Miles to Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099.

After the success of Spider-Man: No Path Home, fans wanted to see more of Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man. Even though Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone, died in The Incredible Spider-Man 2, there have been rumors that Garfield and Stone could return in Amazing Spider-Man 3.

No way home Co-writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, where they discussed how Garfield wanted to explore a darker path for Spider-Man after Gwen Stacy’s death.

“The last time you saw Andrew Garfield it was Gwen’s death, and it must have sent him down a dark spiral, maybe he never came out of it,” McKenna said. “We don’t know, because we haven’t seen a third movie. Where has it gone? Maybe a really dark place. We wanted to be true to the characters in those movies. Really have conversations to clarify where they are. find, without giving too much away. Don’t come in, spill all the beans. ‘Tobey’s Peter runs Peter Parker Industries!’ You just wanted to get little clues about it without it being all that exposure as a fan service. ”

“Tobey wanted to be very minimal about what you know. Very, very minimal,” McKenna continued. “Andrew really liked the idea that he was still being tortured because of what happened in Amazing Spider-Man 2 and where it left him, and how they could bring it to Tom. “We can sympathize with you. We know what you are going through. If anyone in the world knows what you are going through, it’s us.” But also, “We can be beacons”. Tobey in particular went through this darkness. We thought it was cool that Andrew’s Peter was still in the middle of this darkness. They weren’t just there to go, “Two awesome Jedi Knight heroes showing up and going to help you take down the bad guys.” They go through their own affairs. We were trying to explain to the characters that they did a great job creating and that they are really true to these characters, these stories and these worlds so that we didn’t feel like we were doing a callback, fan service. “
